Oakland County Executive
L. Brooks Patterson
Following 16 years as the Prosecutor of Oakland County, L. Brooks Patterson was elected in 1992 to the office of County Executive. He won relection in 2012. Patterson received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit, and his Juris Doctor in 1967 from its law school. In 2005, he was Alumnus of the Year at his alma mater.
During the 19 years of Brooks’ administration, Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor’s have awarded Oakland County its coveted AAA bond rating for its prudent fiscal policies and success in transforming Oakland County’s economy from a manufacturing to a knowledge-based economy.
